Hola Mi Familia y Mis Amigos!
I hope all is well back home as we start the beautiful month of May! Here is what happened this week here Perù!
- Tuesday evening, we had a meeting with our Bishop and a representative from the Stake, Presidente Villatris. He is awesome! He served his mission about 10 years ago, but that fire is still lit within him to make the work progress, to build the kingdom. His energy is inspiring! Truly, we all need this energy, this desire to help others and serve the Lord!
- Wednesday, Hna. Pacheco and Hna. Flores stayed with us because Hna. Flores and a bunch of other new missionaries had to head back to Lima to do some paper work. Thursday Hna. Apeña, Hna. Pacheco, and I were in a trio which made me worried at first, but it was real fun! We taught well and laughed a bunch! Hna. Pacheco is from Mexico, so we got a new perspective on a lot of things. Good times!
- During our trio Thursday, we taught a convert, Hno. Joel. We could hardly even get through the opening song we were laughing so hard! Joels Grandmas sister came in looking for his dad. She is pretty old and doesnt understnad very well, so Joel had to raise his voice and explain that his dad was sleeping. Her response was that we just dont workt hat way! She refused to nuderstnad and us three missionaries were dying from laughing as Joel tried again and again. Then Joels grandma came out of her room, and joel asked her to go help her sister, so she started tio head for the door. Joel jokingly said, run run!, and his Grandma began this super cute and hysterical grandma shuffle and we all just about died on the floor laughing! as this all wnt down we were trying to sing There is Sunshine in my Soul Today. We had a real good time! Then we got to teach abuot missionary life, which is also a awesom topic! :) A fun lesson!
- My favorite experience this week came Friday afternoon while teaching a recent convert who was baptized in August. He has been taught all of the lessons like three times over, so we have been planning different and fun activities to teach him to help him gain a better grasp of the Gospel. This week, we talked about families, specifically the resonsibility of parents to teach their children the Gospel. We read D&C 68:25-30 with him and it hit him hard as it talked about the sins being upon the heads of the parents if they dont teach their children. All of his children are grown and out of the house, living their own lives and all. However, we helped him understnad that he still has this responsibility. Once he understood, his whole presence changed. He took it so seriously. He is a little nervous to try, but he has asked us for 8 copies of the Book of Mormon to give to his children. He is really going go for it! His progress is amazing to watch! He used to be an alcoholic and now he spends his time reading the scriptures and preparing his seminary classes (he has been called as the seminary teacher)! :) Miracles are so real!
- Friday night, we had a ward mission night activity. The Young Mens was in charge, so of course is was soccer and volleyball. LOL a peruvian favorite! Hna. Apeña and I planned appointments with three investigators that came to the activity! That was pretty exciting! :)
- Saturday mornign we finally tracked down Hna. Isis, a investigator who always seems to be out and about, not at home. We taught her more about the Book of Mormon and obedience. She always is so interested and really wants to do waht will help her family! It makes me smile :) We went to pick her up for church Sunday morning, but her 2 year old boy refused to change his clothes and she ended upbeing unable to go. But it was still good for us to see that at she was all ready, changed and ready to go. Next week for sure!
- Saturday afternoon, we had to travel to Sechura to visit the Hnas there and to go observe their ward council. It was cool becuase I went with Hna. Tiñini to visit some people and we ended up visiting Hna. Esther, one of my investigators fromTalara that moved to Sechura. Her face lit up when she saw me at her door, and we took a bit to get caught up. So fun! LOL then came something a little frustrating...They cancelled ward council! UGH LOL So Hna. Apeña and I just headed back to Castilla.
- Today, our District went to the mission home to cook lunch. Once again, they asked me to decide what we should make! LOL Guess what I decided! Navajo Tacos! :) We made dough and fried to flat bread and made chili with tomatoes and guacamole and cheese. Delicious!!! :) LOL Elder Elizalde is from Argentina, Elder Pereira from Paraguay, Elder Iglesias from Chile, and Hna. Apeña from Perù, and they all loved it! Presidente and Hna. Rasmussen also loved it! Such a fun day!
Well, thats what happened this week. Once again, I am sorry that I dont have recent photos from this transfer...for some reason they dont want to pass over to my USB...but I will keep trying!
I love you all!! Keep being good!!! :):)
